Funerals further the mission and vision of MOAFRIKA FM

MOAFRIKA FM through its various departments, has just been drawn into a near area of operations, it never anticipated.

On Saturday, July 2, 2011 the community radio station was requested by the Sepake family, Thaba Bosiu Ha Mosalla to officiate over the funeral of 'Maisaka Justina Sepake.

During her lifetime 'Maisaka joined MOAFRIKA FM's Litotla group, a body comprising of married women whose marriages were blessed with children.

Litotla are best known for raising funds for the station and rallyiong it at difficult times such as when the government of Lesotho had disconnected its transmitter in the Mafeteng, and therefore hindered the station's transmition to both the southern and eastern Lesotho districts of Mafeteng, Mohale's Hoek, Quthing and Qacha's Nek.

The Sepake family asked for MOAFRIKA's officiation at the funeral alegedly because her Catholic Church had discommunicated her, citing her participation in Litotla activities the main reason, moreso, because most events went on Sundays. The defiant 'Masaka told them MOAFRIKA FM will officiate over her funeral in a manner more dignified than any funeral in that area.

Indeed, the funeral was regarded the largest and best organised in the village and its surrounds. Bishop Liau Thoahlaka took responsibility over the Friday services which culminated in collecting the deceased from the morque in Maseru and the all night vigil.

Archbishop John Mosiuoa Matsora headed the Saturday programme. He was assited by two bishops: Obed Mosiuoa Moshoeshoe and Obed Phamotse Makhatseane.

Chieftainess 'Makleinchere Ramainoane led the Litotla group. It turned out to be an event so unique it will be difficult to erase it from one's memory. The ruling party, Lesotho Congress for Democracy was reperesented by Mr Motlohi Moeno. He was so impressed by the service that he promised to assist MOAFRIKA FM acquire its on site from which to further its business interests.

'Mapaballo Molupe
This weekend Friday-saturday, July 8-9, 2011 the radio shall again be playing a leading role in the funeral of another Setotla, 'Mapaballo Molupe at Ts`oeneng Ha Mareka, Rothe.

Here, MOAFRIKA has been requested to run the whole show as if it was a MOAFRIKA event.

Already, supporters of the station have begun making various contributions, big and small; financial and in kind.

The most important thing about this funerals is that, they seem to be yet another avenue for furthering the mission and vision of the this station, which to empower Basotho as a people, in a manner that they will be able to reach their potential in all spheres of life.

Given the fact that 'Mapaballo had been a founding member of a Christian movement led by Arch-Apostle Sebonomoea RK Ramainoane, The Nation of Christ, the funeral shall this time around, feature the "man of the cross" from Friday to Saturday. You need to be there to feel it.

Praise and worship shall be led by the Aletare ea Tefelo songsters. Part of the service shall be recorded on video.
